Mobile Grafo-Therm Shipping Container Anti-Condensation Treatment – London Area

Budget Shipping Containers now offers a mobile Grafo-Therm service to customers in the London area. Grafo-Therm is the anti-condensation coating that’s applied to the ceiling of shipping containers to prevent moisture damage to your stored items.

Grafo-Therm is a water-borne anti-condensation coating that’s applied to steel roofing and the ceilings of shipping containers where condensation and dripping water problems typically occur.

grafo 1The coating is built up of micropores to form a multi-layer and porous texture that has excellent absorption capabilities. Thanks to this micropore structure, moisture evaporation occurs faster that with ordinary coatings because the structure breaks the water tension and spreads the moisture all around the coating.

By forming a relatively thick layer, Grafo-Therm slows down rapid changes to the surface temperature of the shipping container ceiling. This means that the surface temperature of the ceiling does not drop too quickly below the dew point at night and during warmer days, it helps to insulate the surface and keep it cooler.

As well as being used on shipping containers, Grafo-Therm is used on any building that has a steel roof including warehouses, sports halls, animal sheds etc.

Whilst Grafo-Therm can be applied using a brush or roller, our mobile service uses a spraying system to ensure uniform and rapid application to your shipping containers.

This anti-condensation coating works as follows:

As the sun sets, the ambient temperature begins to lower and the temperature of the roof rapidly achieves the dew point, meaning that condensation will begin to form on the ceiling of your shipping container.

grafo manWhen the night has a clear sky and is cold, the temperature of the container ceiling can be considerably lower that the outdoor air. The reason for this is due to long-wave heat radiation from the container ceiling to the sky. And, this causes heavy condensation to form. However, with Grafo-Therm, condensation cannot form on the surface of the coating. This is thanks to the micropores in the coating that absorb the moisture and distributes it over the entire surface of the coating. When the temperature rises, the water then safely evaporates in to the atmosphere. As the shipping container ceiling warms up even more, the coating rapidly dries allowing the coating to regain its capability to absorb moisture during the next period of high condensation.

To keep costs down, please ensure your remove any loose/flaky paint etc from the ceiling of your shipping container and you should remove dirt and grease prior to our mobile service coming to your site.

For us to effectively apply this anti-condensation coating, the temperature of the ambient air and that of the shipping container ceiling should not fall below +10°C during application and drying and the relative humidity should not exceed 80%. Also, the temperature of the shipping container ceiling should stay at least 3°C above dew point.

grafoCurrently, we are only offering this service to customers in London but, may consider undertaking work on multiple containers in self-storage yards etc. outside the London area.

It will take 2-4 days to set (depending on the temperature) but after that it will start working instantly.

Although Grafo-therm treatment doesn’t completely eradicate condensation, unlike ply lining with insulation, it is a fraction of the cost and will stop any major drips hitting your cargo.

Prices will vary depending on the size of the unit and the location within the London area, our yard is in Grays Essex so the engineer will come from East London.
