Shipping Container Housing for the Homeless in Bristol

Shipping container housing is becoming more popular. From simple 20ft glamping cabins to extravagant pieces of architectural design. Shipping containers offer a strong and secure foundation to convert and modify into shipping container houses. You can easily insulate them, install electrics and add doors and windows.

Jasper from Help Bristol’s Homeless recognised this and contacted us looking for a used shipping container for his project. As a 20ft shipping container was a little too small for his requirements but we luckily had a less common 30ft shipping container in stock ready to go! He wanted the container fairly quickly so we pulled out all the stops to deliver it on time. Once it was there, his team of volunteers got to work transforming it into shipping container housing for someone who needs a safe and sound living space!

Each shipping container housing unit comes with good quality lining and insulation inside. We also professionally install plumbing and fully certified electrics. This provides an excellent living space inside the shipping container for a very low price. Finished with quality UPVC windows and doors and fitted out internally with appropriate fixtures, these 30ft shipping container homes are a fantastic idea to help people in need.

The goal of the project is to have local business sponsor the shipping container homes to help fund the project as well as help spread awareness. The first shipping container housing unit has been sponsored by 3D of Massive attack, but the project still needs all the support it can get.

Help Bristol’s Homeless are hoping to add a further eight shipping containers to this project over time. Once the current yard space is full, they may then look to set up elsewhere in Bristol. This will provide even more housing for the homeless using shipping containers.
