Product Description

Our refurbished 30ft shipping containers are made to order and are one of our most popular ranges of refurbished containers. They are made by cutting larger containers down to size. The only actual second hand 30ft containers that are used in the freight industry at present are used for the movement of grains and powders and only come into the Newcastle Upon Tyne area (more info on these units below), so consequently we find our refurbished range of 30fts a very good balance of quality, convenience and price compared to other 30ft options.

If you need some storage and your containers are going to be seen by customers or otherwise on display, this refurbished range offers you a good improvement in cosmetic appearance over the standard used range of containers. The examples shown are ones we have previously supplied out of our East London depot. All 30ft shipping containers all come wind and watertight guaranteed, freshly repainted and are ideal where a 40ft is too big but a 20ft just won’t cut it.

Individual specs (and prices) vary slightly between depots in the UK but from our East London depot, where the price is correct, we can offer a huge range of options and specs. We also offer a 9’6” high cube containers.

Refurbished shipping containers are typically 10-15 working days from point of order to delivery, but this can extend during busy periods.

As featured in the main pictures (above) these made to order 30ft refurbs will include the original front end (i.e. the non-door end) and a newly constructed set of flat panel doors as standard. These are made from sheet steel the same thickness as the container sidewalls with an angle iron frame for rigidity and come with 1x locking bar on the right-hand door. They will look smarter than a lot of original container doors and they are much easier to use on a day to day basis. Although the flat panel doors do not come with a rubber seal, like the usual heavier duty cargo doors, we do fit a ‘rain guard’ and covered frame so they are still sold as wind & watertight and covered by our 12-month wind & watertight guarantee.

They will include a high-security lockbox (padlock housing) as standard and will be given a complete external repaint in a marine grade paint. Please be aware: whites, light greys, creams and very light colours may/will be a premium as we have to double coat the units. For the repaint, you can either specify a basic colour such as ‘dark blue’ and your container will come in dark blue, or you can specify a specific RAL colour code* for the shade of paint you want us to use. Suppliers of marine-grade paint only work with RAL colours so, if you want a specific colour then you must provide us with the RAL colour code.

Please be aware these are made from second-hand containers, so the cosmetics of the original containers will vary. You can expect some dents, creases, minor surface rust under the paintwork and repairs to the container chassis. However, you are assured of a structurally sound, clean looking, wind and watertight container. The insides will be clean and tidy but typically not repainted unless requested £POA

Please also note that when cutting up a larger container to make our 30ft refurbished shipping containers we do have to work within the constraints of the corrugation on the sides of the container. This means an approximate 10cm / 4-inch tolerance in the length dimension, so if you have a specific space that this container must fit into, or if you have an item of a specific size to put inside the container, then please let us know early on and we can work to meet your specific requirements.

Security & Door Type

We would suggest purchasing one of our Squire Shipping Container padlocks. With a lockbox and a padlock, it gives you peace of mind that your container is highly secure.

Although our standard refurbished 30ft containers come with a flat panel door option we can offer the other end of a container we chop up instead (i.e. the original cargo door end) This will typically come in at a small premium £POA.

The original doors have 4 locking bars, heavy-duty rubber seals (rather than a ‘rain guard’ above the doors) and we’ll still fit a lockbox in the price quoted. But, please be aware, if it has original doors it will likely have a flat front end as pictured below left.

Our yard will quite frequently swap door types depending on the availability of stock, the commodity price at the time, and the availability of spare doors. (if we’ve just had a project to supply 20 shipping containers with roller shutter doors in, chances are we will then have 20 sets of spare cargo doors in our yard we would want to use up!) If you require a specific type of door please make this very clear to us before point of order.

*We do repaint over the original container colour so we can’t guarantee exact shade matching at this price. We can add additional primer layers and topcoats to ensure we get a better shade match for you but this does add a significant cost. Anything is possible, but the refurbished specs we offer do (in our view) offer a good quality option to match most customer’s needs at the best possible price.

Extra Information

PLUS, here at Budget Shipping Containers, we carry out a lot of modifications. As we are already undertaking heavy refurbishment work on the containers, it’s very easy (and cheaper) for us to look at additional conversion or customisation options at the same time. if you were thinking of modifying the container in future months/years we would recommend we do it now whiles it’s in its raw state before painting. Popular options include additional doors in the sides or other end, security shutter windows or Grafo-Therm anti-condensation treatment. Please note, we do not offer an on-site conversions service. All works have to be carried out in our depots.

Please be aware that refurbished 30ft shipping containers are reasonably specialised items. In our view, the vast majority of quality 30fts are made from cutting down a 40ft or are the ex-bulk material containers mentioned above. A lot of the original 30ft refurbished shipping containers that may be offered elsewhere may be extremely old leading to a much shorter remaining lifespan, so please take care when shopping around for a used 30ft container as we see a lot of poor quality 30ft shipping containers in circulation.
