Product Description
These used 40ft flat rack shipping containers are typically used for the export of specialised or oversize items. Unlike normal containers we find these are very popular to purchase for export use as many shipping lines may need to import empty flat racks for you to use them, meaning buying the flat rack outright to export and selling it on at destination may be a more cost effective option in some cases.
Other than this – generally speaking you will either need a flat rack or not. A flat rack is generally not a desirable different option – it will be your only option. Shipping lines will charge a heavy premium for shipping a flat rack container when loaded so if your cargo can fit inside a standard dry container or even an open top container then those options will almost certainly be more cost effective overall. If your cargo can be broken down into 2 dry containers this is still likely to be a better option.
Typically with 8ft 6 high collapsible ends, some shipping lines have recently started running high cube flat racks which have 9ft 6 high ends. Max payload can reach up to 45 tonnes as the oversize items that get shipped can often be over-heavy as well. For export use these will come with a minimum 6 month CSC plate and will have all lashing points intact and in place.
If the ends won’t work for you we can also offer platform containers (essentially just a big base only), these are typically only held in our European depots but can be a competitive option Vs. flat racks, especially when looking at multiple or bulk buys.
