Budget Shipping Containers offer biomass boiler containers for a variety of applications such as portable fuel stores or for conversion into complete self-contained installations. Biomass boiler housing made from a shipping container can also be a cost effective solution for a wood chip and pellet fueled installation.
Biomass boiler containers can be constructed from either new, used or refurbished shipping containers. Extras, such as additional personnel doors, cargo doors, weatherproof vents and security shutter windows, can also be added at our depots prior to delivery. Of course, the final specification all depends on timescale, budget, and the expected lifespan. Should the biomass boiler housing be needed as a 5 year solution your build requirements may be very different to a 25+ year project so it is always worth having a look into options and getting all the advise you can before making a decision.
Typical customers who require biomass boiler containers are schools, industrial units, farms or where planning permission and regulations may not allow ‘permanent’ structures to be erected to support biomass fueled installations. We have provided a number of shipping containers now for customers to convert into boiler houses and are always on hand to offer shipping container advice. Please contact us for any enquiries.
We have been busy recently converting containers out of our Leeds depot which are being used as shipping container boiler houses by Regional Energy, a renewable energy company in the Sheffield area. The latest build utilised a one trip 40ft high cube. With the extra foot in height being essential (9’6” rather than the standard 8’6”) and required for long term use a one trip container was really the only option.
“The new containers offer the best long term value. It is going to be on site for 25+ years so they are definitely the right choice” says David Shaw from Regional Energy.
As their name suggests new containers have only had one trip over from the factory in China to our yard, so they are in immaculate condition and will typically last 3 times as long as a standard used shipping container. As this container will be on show it was important to be clean, tidy and look the part once delivered.
With a clear idea in mind Regional Energy knew that an additional set of doors was needed – once the biomass boiler is in the unit, there is going to be very little access from the end cargo doors. With the build being completed out of our Leeds depot the first obstacle was actually finding an extra set of ‘high cube’ cargo doors going spare! High Cube shipping containers are very popular for export customers so it is rare we have a good condition set of spare cargo doors around. In the end, after a discussion with Regional Energy it was decided we will get in a new set, exactly the same as the end doors, fit them and repaint them to match. They really gave the biomass boiler container a sleek finish and really gave the overall build a tidy finish.
With the conversion work completed, we delivered the unit to Regional Energy’s yard in Sheffield. Once the biomass installation was complete delivery was arranged to Torestin Care Home in Haverfordwest where the unit is currently being used by the 44 room home. Both parties involved are very proud of this build “The biomass boiler container conversion looks great and all was good with the delivery” – Arlene Roberts, Regional Energy Business Support Team.
With over 20 years experience, Regional Energy specialise in reducing commercial and domestic energy bills by introducing the very latest renewable and energy reducing technologies. And with containers for biomass boilers becoming more and more popular hopefully this can be an ongoing project with Budget Shipping Containers.
