Fitting Canopies to Shipping Containers
If you need to create additional covered outdoor space for storage or a workshop, a shipping container canopy provides a relatively quick, easy and cost-effective solution.
The canopies are mounted atop 20 or 40ft shipping containers giving you additional dry space to store goods, aggregates etc. They are also ideal for creating additional workshop space for plant and vehicle maintenance.
Clients including Eurotunnel and Balfour Beatty have used our containers and canopies to create additional workshop spaces in they depots.
If you are buying a shipping container canopy to fit on to your existing shipping containers you must check the configuration of the top rails on your containers.
It’s very important you check this so we can provide the right parts to affix the canopy to your shipping containers.
Shipping container top rails either come as flat bar or box section. When we supply a canopy the default fixings are for standard box rail section. This is why we ask you to check what your containers are like.
When you order your containers and canopy from us, we aim to provide matching units with box section top rails. This keeps the cost of the canopy down. If you have units with flat bars, the cost of the canopy will be higher as the canopy fixings are a different configuration.
With new containers, we can easily check the top rail configuration, with used containers though, getting matching top rails is more of a challenge.
Top rail variants
Depots store containers in stacks and will pull down the first units off a stack to fulfill an order and won’t check the top rails. However, we have a couple of more accommodating depots who will help pick the right units for your order however, there may be additional costs associated with this process as they may have to pull down multiple units until they find a matching pair.
Our shipping container canopies are made of fire retardent PVC that conforms to BS 7837:1996. The material is 520gsm PVC.
We can install the canopies for you or you can assemble the canopy yourself following the supplied self-build instructions.
The canopy is supported on a heavy-duty 60mm galvanised steel framework that’s mounted on to either 20 or 40ft shipping containers and can be supplied in a variety of widths. Other options include Full end panels; half end panels and full end panels with zip doors.
Our canopies are used by customers to create dry workshop areas for plant, machinery and vehicle maintenance through to dry storage areas for aggregates etc.
