The least expensive option would be to order a standard used 20ft container or used 40ft container and convert yourself. You will need some knowledge of metal fabrication and access to tools and welding gear. If you can run to a one-trip container to convert this will offer a smarter appearance and longer lifespan.

Design your own Shipping Container Holiday Home

If you’d prefer to design your own Shipping Container Conversion and have it built for you, we can also help with this. We will need a very clear drawing or spec list to work from but can fully quote for your conversion including delivery to site. If you’d like us to cost out your design, please don’t forget to include all the following detail:

• Size of the container to work from. Standard sizes are all 8ft wide and can be 20ft or 40ft in length. We can produce other sizes if needed, but these standard options offer the best value for money. Standard height containers are 8ft 6in externally, some options are available as ‘high cube’, which are an extra foot high (so 9ft 6ins).
• Do you want a ‘used’, ‘refurbished’ or ‘one-trip’ container? Cost will be the major factor here. The refurbishment includes repainting, so if you are planning on painting on-site this won’t be necessary.
• What doors and windows would you like added? For anything other than standard options (on the links) we will need full details, ideally a web link to the product you would like fitted.
• Will you need the container lined and insulated? If so, ply or melamine?
• Will you need electrics? As standard our package includes 2 double sockets, light(s), light switch, RCD, external connection and all trunking etc. Please specify if you have any further requirements.
• Would you like a floor covering included? (many of our customers prefer to choose their own and have it fitted after delivery)
• Would you like timber cladding externally? This looks fantastic but will add to the cost significantly.
• Any other requirements? Our quote will be based on the details you send us, so please make sure that everything you need for the container is included in your specification.
