Shipping Container Scammers on Facebook Marketplace

10th october 2024

We are aware that scammers are operating on Facebook marketplace.

This is unfortunately nothing new. Today we have had multiple calls from people asking if we are selling on Facebook marketplace. On checking with them they are speaking to scammers who are giving our name and website out to try and look legitmate.

In cases invoices have been sent out to people with a badly copied and compressed version of our logo, via an online service atominvoice.com.

Please be aware we will only ever email you from an @budgetshippingcontainers.co.uk email address, and we will only send emails out via our email servers. You are always welcome to call us to verify our bank details or if an invoice is genuine. Use the contact numbers on our website to call us, not a phone number given to you by someone you are speaking to (a potential scammer).

These potential victims were wise enough to call in to verify if this was us. We are not selling any shipping containers, flat pack containers or offices, or other items on Facebook marketplace. We do not offer clearances via these sites.

Our bank account name is our business name. Never pay a personal bank account when sending money for a shipping container from us.

We have some accessories listed on Ebay, but we do not advertise shipping containers or flat pack storaage containers on any online marketplace. Put simply these sites comissions are too high for us to remain competitive when selling containers.

Any images we publish anywhere online will always be watermarked to prevent scammers poaching the images.

Please be aware that Facebook marketplace is rife with scammers. There is more background infomation about this in our recently updated post about contianer scams.

Becuse we are major container trader with one of the biggest and best performing websites, and becuse we clearly take significant efforts to protect our IP such as images, we might be seen as an easy way for scammers to add legitimacy. Unfortunately for the scammers we are also very responsive when scammers use our name to try and add legitimacy to their scams.
