Llandaff North Allotments in Cardiff are now the proud owners of a one trip 20ft shipping container!
With 20ft shipping containers coming in a lot cheaper and stronger than similarly sized sheds, these make excellent storage units for allotments where there are concerns over vandalism or theft of tools and machinery.
Going for a new (one trip) shipping container for their allotment was the right decision because they wanted a professional looking container as well as the most secure. Coming with a lock box (padlock housing) on the container doors as standard, and with one of our 80mm squire padlocks, this is now the tidiest allotment in the village!
Stephen Taylor is very happy with the purchase and has kindly sent in some photos (below).
“We are delighted with the shipping container and it looks great on site. Your driver did a good job too. I was amazed at his calmness and ability as he negotiated some narrow and traffic filled streets leading up to the allotment. He did a great job placing the container just where we wanted it” – Stephen Taylor, Llandaff North Allotments.
A popular question that has been popping up over the last year ‘can you deliver a shipping container onto an allotment?’ and while most of the time we can, its always worth having a chat with us to see what your options are, what access is like and of course where the container is going to go and if our crane arm can reach!
With allotments totally engulfed in grass, trees and, of course, people’s plots, its more than likely we’re not going to be able to deliver a shipping container there unless there is an access road or track leading in. For any delivery we’d need suitable access for a very large truck that must operate on hard standing ground at all times and a lifting zone that is clear of any overhead obstructions (branches telephone cables etc.) We expect to get right up alongside or next to the spot your container needs dropping with our truck.
As you can see from photos above Llandaff North is a good example of where we can deliver a shipping container to.
Below are some not so accessible allotment pics – nowhere for our lorry to get in, no hard-standing access, bushes too high to crane over the shipping container etc.
Shipping Containers for allotments are a great idea and typically cheaper than a similar size shed. Made from very touch and anti rust COT-TEN Steel, these containers offer an excellent secure and anti vandal storage option for many an allotment group. All our shipping containers come guaranteed wind and water tight and structurally sound, our shipping containers are a secure, long term solution to overcrowded wooden sheds or any collapsing allotment structure.
