Delivering a Shipping Container to Bristol with Limited Access
In October, we delivered a 20ft shipping container to be used as storage, to a Vehicle Repair shop in Bristol.
Ex-Hire Containers
The unit delivered was one of our 20ft “Ex-Hire” containers – these are containers that we have had in stock previously, and come from a hire in Southampton. They are typically around 3-9 years old, which are much younger than our standard used containers.
Our Ex-Hire containers fit the bill if you are after something smart, with long term value. They come in a lot cheaper than a one trip container and are excellent value for money. They are generally available in blue or green. The cosmetics will vary from container to container, they will show some evidence of use with dents, dinks, surface rust, faded paint & evidence of repairs. We don’t guarantee the cosmetics due to this – however rest assured, they come with a wind and watertight guarantee, same as all of our other containers.
These Ex-Hire containers are a great alternative or addition to refurbished containers down South, they are only available in our Southampton Depot.
Refurbished containers are used containers that we’ve taken, fitted a lockbox to and given a fresh repaint in a standard dark RAL colour of your choosing. If you are looking for a smarter & neater container with minimal imperfections, you may prefer our one trip containers.
Tricky Delivery
The access for this site was a tricky one. To ensure a smooth delivery was achievable, our customer very helpfully sent us lots of pictures of the site beforehand. This meant we could check it over with the haulier before delivery took place.
The container needed to be placed in quite a small area with limited access to reach. The truck pulled up at the side of the road and was able to lift over into the desired position.
Our deliveries as standard are on a Hiab truck, this is the most common option as it suits the majority of our customers sites. A crane-equipped vehicle is used to deliver, and lift off your container. They have a single crane arm with extending boom & free swinging to move the containers into position.
Lifting over obstacles such as walls, fences & hedges etc. are generally not a problem for Hiab trucks, as long as we know well in advance of the delivery. If a delivery is to require a Hiab with an extra long reach, we can arrange this before we send out your container.
