VAT Exempt 10ft Office Container for Southern Ski Club for the Disabled

In Summer 2024, we had an enquiry from SSCD (Southern Ski Club for the Disabled) regarding a 10ft basic container office conversion. We were able to provide them with a VAT Exempt 10ft Office Container.

SSCD are a registered charity who provide adaptive facilities that make it possible to give disabled skiers a sense of achievement, independence & self-confidence on the slopes. They have over 40 years experience in supporting the disabled in Skiing.

10ft Basic Office Container

Our 10ft basic container office conversion is made from a refurbished cut-down container. Our basic offices, as standard, will usually include:

• Insulation & lined internally with ply (or an upgrade to be lined internally with melamine)
• Lighting & electrics
• Personnel door
• Shutter window
• Repaint in a dark colour of green, blue or grey (more colours are available on request!)

Compared to the 10ft basic office container, the VAT Exempt 10ft Office Container we made for SSCD, had the additions of a wheelchair access personnel door, low handles on the door & a pull chord type alarm.

Due to them not requiring the original cargo/flat doors in the end of the container, these were shut off. The depot fitted a sheet of corrugated steel there instead (giving it a very sleek look indeed!).

As a result, we were glad to be able to charge this as zero rated VAT exemption for SSCD – with the modifications to make this disabled-friendly making this possible.

 

Can a Modified Shipping Container Qualify for VAT Exemption when for Disabled Use?

It absolutely can! As mentioned above, because we designed this office specifically for disabled use, this can qualify for VAT exemption. We checked & verified this with the VAT office – you just need to send us a Record of Eligibility Form and details of the design of the unit for us to do this.
