Product Description
A platform container is essentially a flat sturdy deck, designed to ship cargo that is oversize or can’t fit in a standard shipping container. These are very specialised items and you generally only use one of these to ship your goods if you absolutely have to. These are tricky to lift and stow on the container ships, as such the lines will charge a lot more for shipping of a platform compared to a standard dry container.
For domestic use, we see a lot of specialised requests. These can make ideal bridges for farmers who may want to get their farming equipment over a small stream or similar, the same has been used by builders and construction companies in the past for similar purposes.
There are also a number of very specialised uses. If you need a sturdy deck capable of holding 20+ tonnes of weight, then there is little else that will offer the strength and value of a platform container. This could be a stage, a barrier or fence, a rooftop terrace or an additional deck on a boat or even truck. We are sure there are plenty of applications that we haven’t considered or come across yet!
If you are after a 20ft container platform, i the first instance we will ask to have a discussion on the phone before quoting you. The reason for this is partly down to availability ()these are very rare container for us to have in stock) so often we may want to discuss other similar options (such as our flat rack containers) as for some customers it can work out a lot cheaper to offer a flat rack container, potentially with the ends cut off to provide a very similar sturdy deck
The other reason, (and no offence to our customers here), is down to the fact the the majority of enquiries we have had for container platforms, end up taking something very different.
For this reason if you are exporting or wanting to use these for domestic use, we want to know a lot about your project to understand whats going on, and potentially advise on other cost effective options if we know of any. If you are planning on shipping cargo abroad on this we’d love to understand what you plan to ship, its weight, and where in the UK you need to load in order to quote for you.
If you have a special project in mind for this, we ideally want some good ideas on your plans or projects, as in many cases we may be able to offer a more cost effective solution.
