20ft Shipping Containers (Refurbished)

Product Description

Our range of refurbished 20ft shipping containers is designed for customers who want cost-effective secure storage, but, who need the container to look smarter than our typical used shipping containers.  The examples shown are ones we have previously supplied. These 20ft shipping containers all come wind and watertight guaranteed, freshly repainted and are ideal for extra storage space in areas where it could be seen by visitors or in schools and on farms where the unit needs to ‘blend’ into the background.

Individual specs (and prices) vary between depots in the UK but from our East London depot, we can offer a huge range of options and specs including original doors, flat doors, (no doors!), personnel sized doors, roller shutter doors, electrics’ small kitchens etc. We also offer a 9’6” high version (High Cube) if required, but, please note the High Cube units will be produced by cutting down a 40ft High Cube shipping container to create 2 x 20ft units. Units made this way will have one unit with the original cargo doors and a flat sheet steel front-end whilst the other 20ft will have a set of flat panel doors and the original corrugate front-end. We will naturally quote you what we feel is the most cost-effective option based on what we have available at the time of any enquiry. If you require a specific feature or spec, please let us know so we can ensure this is included within your quote for you.

Refurbished shipping containers are typically available at 10-15 working days from point of order to delivery, but lead-times can be extended at busier times of the year.

As featured in the main pictures above these are made from repainting standard used 20ft containers or by cutting down 40ft containers to make 20ft refurbished shipping containers. As such they will either include the original cargo doors or the original front end (i.e., the non-door end) and a newly constructed set of flat panel doors. Flat-panel doors are made from sheet steel the same thickness as the container sidewalls with an angle iron frame for rigidity and come with a min 1x locking bar on the right-hand door – see ‘Security & Door Type’ below.

Refurbished containers will include a high-security lockbox (padlock housing) as standard and will be given a complete external repaint in marine grade paint (your choice of basic RAL colour*) Please be aware whites, light greys, creams, and very light colours may/will be a premium as we have to double coat.

Please be aware these are made from second-hand containers, so the cosmetics of the original containers will vary. You can expect some dents, creases, scratches and, minor surface rust under the paintwork and repairs to the container itself. However, you are assured of a structurally sound, clean looking, wind and watertight container. The insides will be clean and tidy but typically not repainted unless requested £POA.

Please also note that when cutting up a larger container to make our 20ft refurbished shipping containers we do have to work within the constraints of the corrugation on the sides of the container. This means an approximate 10-12cm / 4–5-inch tolerance in the length dimension, so if you have a specific space that this container must fit into, or if you have an item of a specific size to put inside the container, then please let us know early on and we can work to meet your specific requirements.

Security & Door Type

We would suggest purchasing a lock box and one of our insurance rated Squire padlocks . With a lockbox and a padlock, it gives you peace of mind that your container is highly secure.

Although our standard refurbished 20ft containers come with cargo doors we can offer flat doors from some depots £POA. Flat doors can look smarter than a lot of used container doors plus they are much easier to use on a day-to-day basis. The flat panel doors do not come with a rubber seal like the heavy-duty cargo doors, however, we do fit a ‘rain guard’ and covered frame. They are still sold as wind & watertight and come with our 12-month wind & watertight guarantee.

The original cargo doors have 4 locking bars, heavy-duty rubber seals (rather than a ‘rain guard’ above the doors) and we will still fit a lockbox in the price.

Our yard will quite frequently swap door types depending on the availability of stock, the commodity price at the time, and the availability of spare doors. (If we have just had a project to supply 20 shipping containers with roller shutter doors in, chances are we will then have 20 sets of spare cargo doors in our yard we would want to use up!) If you require a specific type of door, please make this very clear to us before point of order.

*Please note we overspray the original container colour and liveries with your chosen colour and we do not guarantee shade matching at this basic price, or sticker/livery removal before painting or masking off door seals/locking bars before painting (if you go for the standard cargo door option.) Of course, we can price for these if essential £POA.

Technical Information for 20ft shipping containers

Please note whilst we have tried to be as accurate as possible, some measurements (notably internal measurements) can vary slightly with the development and modernisation of manufacturing techniques over time. We recommend considering a circa 1 inch (2.5cm) tolerance. Where possible we have given a range on known variations in dims between ranges but we can’t guarantee this to be totally accurate for all ranges. If you have a specific sized problem or item to load that’s near these dims please double check with us in advance and if needs be we will get someone to measure the exact container for you.
