Product Description
Budgetshippingcontainers.co.uk now offer a comprehensive range of made-to-order shipping container staircases for personnel doors. With each customer potentially having a different requirement we thought it was essential that custom built staircases were an option for us to offer.
The shipping container staircase advertised here is an example of what we can offer. Designed for two standard height shipping containers or cabins stacked on top of one another. It consists of 13-15 steps, chequerplate floor and is finished all over in black (other colours available on request – see ‘customisation’ section below). It also includes all the handrails and supporting poles pictured. Ideal for stacked welfare units on a construction site or even yards with a number of these units.
Typical Materials
The treads are made from 3 – 4mm chequer plate
The strings are 50 x 100mm channel
The platform is made of 50 x 50 x 2.5mm box section
The handrails are 40 x 40 x 2mm box with 25mm box knee rails
The legs are 48.8mm x 3mm tube
Tread plates are 810mm wide

As with all things container related it is essential the ground where these will be positioned is suitable. The legs will need support from hard standing ground, ideally concrete.
If you are having your staircase installed by us, please keep the work area and container doors clear for our vehicle to gain access (typically a ford transit with a huge trailer with the staircase on). Please do not have the container covered in, surrounded by or full of goods. We will need clear unobstructed access to outside and inside to erect staircases.
Please note – these shipping container stairs are designed to be used with ‘standard’ shipping containers (8ft wide and 8’6” high – please let us know if you have 9’6” high cubes or jack leg units and we can of course quote accordingly) The standard 13 or 15 tread can be replaced with 17 tread option (simply a 2 tread extension) to gain any extra length/height required £POA.
These container stairs are designed for personnel use. While they are fantastic quality, heavy duty construction they are still only made for one or two people at a time. If you are likely to be moving heavier items up and down the stairs, pulling up a sack truck with bags of cement on for example, please consult us for advice prior to the stairs construction. Thicker steel, reinforcement, wider steps and landing style loading areas are all possible to build into the design for you.
Delivery
The stairs are delivered flat pack. The handrails bolt on to the stairs as do the platform supports and platform guard rails (to the landing). Making the item easy to move around site prior to assembly. If you need us to assemble the stairs please ask for price.
Delivery prices available upon request and are subject to your UK address. Our delivery charge will be based on a normal weekday only during the hours of 7.30am to 5.30pm, delivery outside of these days and times will be charged at a higher rate.
Delivery/transport time is not included in the lead time shown above – it is typically an additional 2-3 working days. Also please note – because stairs are a very odd shaped load the delivery of the equipment is subject to road traffic conditions and the highways authorities approval for movement on wide or high loads where applicable (we haven’t come across it before but in the unlikely event that we cannot deliver your goods to you we will get in touch at the earliest convenience).
Customisation
This is our standard ‘off the shelf’ staircase suitable for 8ft wide x 8’6” high shipping containers with personnel door access. These are all fabricated to order so we can easily modify any design as required for a specific customer, site or use.
Please let us know if you are using these stairs with high cube (9’6” high containers) or jack leg units and we can of course adjust the build to suit. High cube stairs for example is a simple 2-tread extension £POA.
We can make these to order with larger width stairs, levelling feet & wheels for manoeuvrability, and of course they can be finished in different colours. £POA Please contact us for more information.
