Shipping Container Canopies for Eurotunnel Folkestone

As you might expect, the crew at Eurotunnel Folkestone have more than your average engineering challenges, and to help equip them for this they need an awful lot of space!

For our recent project, we supplied 10x one trip 40ft high cube containers, with lights, electrical safety gear & trunking supplied, heavy duty shelving and 2 of our shipping container canopies to allow them large areas of covered space between the containers

Offering most likely a generation of secure dry storage inside the containers, and with our professionally built and installed canopies we’ve helped Eurotunnel gain a massive amount of utilisation from what was an under used area in the yard.

The containers themselves have been given to different teams and departments for general storage. Everything from tools for the engineers to archives for the offices are neatly and securely tucked away – some of the containers have also been fitted with our heavy duty shelving range with adjustable shelves and that carry up to a massive 450kgs (nearly half a tonne) per shelf.

The shipping container canopies themselves are positioned in their maximum width, a little over 8 metres of covered width between each of the 40ft containers. If you have anything to store that’s taller than one of the cheery pickers or industrial fork lifts shown parked up inside these structures, you can always build the canopy on top of double stacked containers – allowing you to park double decker buses, heavy mining equipment or even a monster truck or two inside (if anyone will lend us a plane or an iceberg for the day we’ll give that a try as well!)

Please note at the time of instillation this was the biggest canopy on offer, but our range has now evolved to offer up to and over 20 meters of covered space between 2 shipping containers.

The electrics were fitted in our London yard allowing for a quick and easy instillation. All containers were supplied with junction boxes exactly where the customer specified – at the opposite ends to the door to ensure they were as close as possible to the available power supply. These simply needed an electrician to plug them in and they are good to go. As with all our electrical work we have qualified electricians supply, install and certify all work in our yard prior to release. This allows for minimal instillation time on site.

Our canopies can now come with a variety of end panels and also in a 20ft canopy option. For now these are only available for sale but we are interested to work with hire partners for supplies to the events industry. See our container canopy page for more information.

We are proud to be able to offer these for sale nationwide, with DIY options for the build as well as an installation service for customers who need it. They represent a fantastic and extremely cost effective means to get large area of covered space for working in or for storage use. Quick and easy to install and well designed by experts in the polytunnel industry who understand that parts will occasionally get knocked or damaged and need repair or replacement – as such the frame and covers are supplied in circa 2 metre sections that can be quickly and easily replaced if needed
