Product Description
Our 20ft open top shipping containers are typically use to ship over size items that won’t fit inside a normal shipping container, or for goods that are best or more easily loaded through the top of the container. They typically come with a tarpaulin cover but a removable hard top option is also available.
We can also help supply extra large tarpaulins if your goods are too tall for the standard tarp and these, as one trip new option, can have removable hard tops.
All these units are original shipping containers, i.e. they are factory made as open top containers and they have not been converted from normal dry (or closed top) containers. The converted units typically have much lower payloads and are not as strong or as rigid as the original units
Most new and used 20ft open top shipping containers come with a removable header bar above the door to allow for large items to be loaded in more easily. If you require this removable header bar please make this clear as some older used containers may not have this option.
Generally speaking these are of interest to customer who need to export some specialist cargo. For site storage use we would most likely recommend a converted option as the payload we consider are classed safe for lifting whilst loaded. If this is going to be sat static on your site storing oversize items then a cheaper converted unit is likely to be more cost effective – but open tops for static storage use are very rarely sought after.
We typically have a few locations in stock in the UK which stock open tops as standard. However this changes on a weekly basis as the shipping line will often sell us the containers wherever they happen to end up. We can of course move units to any of our UK depots at reasonably short notice. For this reason local prices and availability will vary so please contact us for a quote if needed.
As with all our used containers they will come professionally checked over and if necessary repaired to a cargo-worthy standard (which includes a fully intact tarp) prior to sale, however these containers come in their original shipping line liveries or colours, They will have some dents and some surface rust so they are sold with cosmetics not guaranteed
