Product Description
The above pictures are examples of ex hire 20ft shipping containers that we have had in stock previously. These units come from a hire in Southampton. At around 3 – 9 years old these ex hire containers are younger than our standard used containers.
Ex hire containers are ideal if you want something smart and neat, with long term value. Much cheaper than a one trip container, and much smarter than used containers these units are excellent value for money. They will most likely hold a much better resale value compared to used shipping containers.
Ex hire containers will show some evidence of use over their lifetimes. You can expect to see some dents, scuffs and scratches, along with surface rust, faded paint and evidence of repairs. If you are looking for a very smart and neat unit with minimal imperfections you may be interested in our one trip containers.
While cosmetics of these units will vary, they will all be thoroughly checked over before leaving the depot and any necessary repairs will be completed. The units will be structurally sound, wind and watertight with working doors and a solid floor. These units will also come with our 12 month wind and watertight guarantee. Cosmetics will vary from container to container.
If your ex hire does have some surface rust, you do not need to worry. Shipping containers are all made from COR-TEN A grade steel. This kind of steel means that rust forms very slowly, and is non-porous so it will not let water through.
Ex hire containers are generally available in green or blue – if you do have a colour preference please let us know and we can see what is in stock at the time.

Please note whilst we have tried to be as accurate as possible, some measurements (notably internal measurements) can vary slightly with the development and modernisation of manufacturing techniques over time. We recommend considering a circa 1 inch (2.5cm) tolerance. Where possible we have given a range on known variations in dims between ranges but we can’t guarantee this to be totally accurate for all ranges. If you have a specific sized problem or item to load that’s near these dims please double check with us in advance and if needs be we will get someone to measure the exact container for you.
