These one trip (new) 20ft side opening shipping containers are very popular with customers wanting quick and easy access to items stored. Often used for pallets, or for the storage of large and bulky items that won’t fit through the end doors of a standard shipping container.
Also recently we have seen a lot more interest in conversions, turning 20ft side opening shipping containers into self contained mobile exhibition stands, cafes and snack stands and retail outlets. We also find these very popular for generator housings, biomass boilers and for a number of specialised engineering applications.
As you look from the outside at the end opening doors, the side opening doors are always to the right hand side for this range (check out our left handed opening side opening shipping containers if you need the doors the other way around)
For export use these one trip 20ft side opening shipping containers are very popular for vehicles or oversize items – anything that you can’t easily load through the end doors of a container. Only some of the ranges of side opening containers we have available have floor mounted lashing points – so if you need these for securing your cargo please make clear to us early on.
For storage use these offer excellent easy access secure storage units. If you need to store pallets but don’t want to spend your time digging out a pallet from the wrong end of a standard shipping container then this solution can be ideal. Also if you have any rapid response storage requirements, or if you’re storing any stock that is simply too big to fit through the end doors in a shipping container.
Regional availability and prices will vary slightly so please contact us for a firm quote. As a rough guide these are around twice the price of a standard end opening new build container – there’s a lot of specialised engineering that goes into these side doors and as they are specialist containers they aren’t built in the sorts of volumes that standard shipping containers are built in – so the factories can’t offer the same economies of scale.
If price is a major concern please do get in touch to discuss, we may be able to offer a number of other solutions such as fitting cargo doors into the side of a used shipping container for you. We may also be able to take a used container and modify it to have curtain access along the side. If it helps you are more than welcome to call us during office hours and we can chat through various options and rough costs to help you decide what might be the best / most viable option for you before firming up prices in writing.
Below we’ve made a quick 1 minute video to show how the doors operate on our ranges of 20ft side opening shipping containers to help answer a very common question. Door panel sizes do vary from one range to the next but all doors we’ve seen operate in the same manner and will always fold back onto the sides as shown in the video.
Please be advised that these are sold as ‘one trip containers’ and are not brand new. All of our shipping containers are built in the factory in China or the far east and have done 1 trip into the UK since new. Some minor cosmetic wear may be evident from this initial trip. Minor dents and scrapes are reasonably common, as are tire marks inside your container where a fork lift truck or similar may have unloaded goods from inside the container.
All of our containers are checked over in our UK depots before sale, and are sold with our wind and watertight guarantees. You can read more on what wear we consider acceptable in our recent article what to expect from a one trip shipping container.
This range of 20ft side opening shipping containers are the most commonplace and ordinarily the most cost effective option for general storage uses.
We have a superb range of other side opening containers, including 4 other types of 20ft side opening shipping container. Please feel free to check out our post on the different types of side opening shipping containers that are available if you want to check out the options for taller or wider options, or with the side doors in different configurations.
