Product Description

There are a number of options for moisture and condensation prevention within shipping containers, one of the top quality options is to line and insulate your shipping container. For conversions we offer a range of different lining options to choice from to make sure you get the best unit  and look for your project.

We build a frame inside the container from 2 x 2 or 2 x 4 wood batons. Then we fix an internal wall to the inside of this frame leaving the original shipping container wall on the outside, and the cavity space in the middle is stuffed or lined with the insulation. We can offer containers with almost any time of insulation and any type of lining.

Lining Options

Ply lining is one of our more common, budget options for lining a shipping container. Its a great option for lining storage containers or using inside offices/canteens and other conversions.

Melamine lining is a more premium options. This is generally available in white and is wipe clean. It gives a very smart finish internally. As it can be wiped clean it is ideal for container conversions which will be having food prepped. (e.g. catering units, coffee shops etc.). Again, thicker versions of this are available.

Various thickness are available from 6mm to 18mm. If you plan to hang lots of heavy things on your walls you will want to consider a thicker ply to help support the weight. If you want something cost-effective and do not intend to hang items, the 6mm is a great option.

OSB lining is another great option. It offers a different internal finish and is popular for conversions into workshops or similar, although it can be used for many applications.

Timber lining is a less common option but does look great in for bar and catering unit conversions.

If you have another type of lining you would prefer, let us know we can see what we can offer. You may have a specific look in mind, or need something to meet regulations. For some options, such as food grade lining, we may request you tell us which type of lining you would like to be used. Our yards can fit almost anything, but we do want to make sure we are fitting the right product for your needs.

Insulation Options

Different yards use different types of insulation. Most commonly it’s either rockwool (50mm) or Celotex (25mm). We won’t generally specify what type of insulation is being used as it can vary. If you do need a specific type of insulation to be used in your container, let us know. We usually can insulate the container in your choice of product (type or thickness of insulation) but if it is not the standard option from the yard, it may add extra cost to your conversion.

DIY Insulation & Lining

Lining and insulating a container is not a particularly complex task, so many customers chose to complete this part themselves. We cannot provide the parts for this if you do opt to do it yourself.

For a cost-effective alternative, we do also offer a self-fit insulation kit. This is a great option to protect your container from condensation.

Other Condensation Treatments

Whilst lining and insulating a container is very much the top end permanent option, we do also offer a wide range of other insulation and condensation treatment options and tips on some DIY fixes. Please feel free to check out our ultimate guide to shipping container condensation treatment options. If you would like to discuss the options with one of our team on the phone please contact us.
