Product Description

This is an example of a cladded container for catering which we made to order for a school in surrey. Shipping containers are now regularly being converted in catering units, welfare containers, shops and bars.

These sorts of conversions generally offer a significant saving vs mobile catering van options. They are built to order so can be personalised to suit your site and use. They can also be somewhat easily moved (with hiab or crane). As they can be moved, it also means they can be resold if you no longer need the unit.

One trip shipping containers are an excellent option for converted units. Being only around a year old they have around 25years of life with little maintenance. As they have only completed one journey from China to the UK, they are also in near perfect condition. They will have minimal dents, scratches etc.

For this unit, we repainted the container in RAL7016, a very popular colour currently. The manual roller shutter was powder coated to match to give a cohesive finish.

Melamine is a great option when lining a container for catering uses. It is a wipe clean material so makes cleaning up easy. It also has a nice finish so the container looks smart and tidy inside. The original cargo doors were lined over to give a more seamless finish inside.

Electrics, including spot lights and double plug sockets were fitted along with an external blue plug connection and a consumer unit fitted inside. All wiring was concealed behind the lining for a smoother finish.

Customisation Options

As this type of unit is made to order, you have many options to customise the unit to meet your requirements / preferences.

You can have more roller shutters, or choose to have electrical shutters. You can also choose a different type of lining – ply lining, osb etc.

There is also a choice for the type of cladding available. This unit has a red cedar cladding, which is one of the more expensive options. We’ve also completed units in a neo-timber composite cladding as well as a standard budget timber cladding.
