Exhibition Containers for Hitachi UK Converted by KW Construction

In early 2023, we were approached by KW Construction to supply two 20ft containers. KW Construction are joinery and carpentry experts based in County Durham and Northumberland and had the amazing opportunity to create an events and merchandising space for their client, Hitachi Construction Machinery UK.

Hitachi were looking for bespoke converted containers that they would be able to take to various trade shows, meet with existing and prospective clients, sell branded merchandise and provide refreshments. KW worked closely with Hitachi’s merchandising team to establish their needs and wants and were able to deliver exactly what they required and more.

20ft Containers

KW Construction came to us after finding us online. Working with our fantastic team, we provided them with two 20ft one trip shipping containers. In our London conversion yard, we began the base works for containers KW would be converting.

One trip containers are ideal for containers that will be in public spaces. They are as new as you can get in the UK, with all containers being built in China and shipped across. These one trip containers are in near perfect condition, with very few dents, scratches or other cosmetic damage.

We repainted both units in RAL7015, a smart slate grey. They were given a premium repaint, masking off all the locking bars and door gears when the unit was re-sprayed. This gave the containers a top quality finish.

We then cut apertures into each of the containers to suit the window and doors that were to be fitted by KW Construction once the units had left our conversion yard and had been delivered.

KW Construction’s Conversion

Once delivered, it was now over to KW Construction to complete their conversion. With the container now on their own site, they fully insulated both containers with 50mm rigid insulation and lined them. The walls and ceiling were painted in Hitachi’s brand colour paint and the ceiling was finished to be fireproof. The double glazed windows and aluminium sliding doors were fitted into the apertures that we had pre-cut out in our London yard.

Both containers were decorated with vinyl wrap in Hitachi branding on the inside and logos externally. Electrics were supplied throughout which were designed to be run from a single-phase generator.

Container one was designed for merchandising the Hitachi brand. It had space for Hitachi branded clothing, shelving for non-hanging merchandise, bench seats with storage, and a 52” TV.

Container two was designed with a kitchen to provide clients with refreshments and a meeting room for a more private space to discuss business with clients.

Since the completion of these two units at the beginning of June, Hitachi is now on their third trade show, and transportation and set up between shows has run really smoothly.  KW Construction has received tonnes of positive feedback from Hitachi and their clients on these units.

Generally, we do our own conversions – but in this case, KW Construction converted this container to a high standard using our shipping containers and we have to agree they did a cracking job. Whilst we wouldn’t normally recommend someone offering a competing service, we’re very happy to, as long as they carry on buying the containers from us!
