In late 2024, we delivered two 20ft one-trip containers to Furrer+Frey in Nottinghamshire. They are a supplier of overhead contact line systems around the world. Established in 1923, they develop, plan, build, and maintain overhead contact line systems for suburban and main-line railway services, in the interest of increased electromobility. They supply services in both Switzerland and around the world.

Secure Shipping Container Space for a Control Room

Furrer & Frey needed a secure space for their control room which would be housing and operating electrical equipment. In addition to the supply of two 20ft One-Trip containers, they needed the following modifications done:

We customized these two 20ft one-trip container conversions in one of our East London depots.

This conversion is a perfect example of the versatility of shipping containers. Containers are incredibly versatile and used for a variety of projects. They are often converted into functional offices spaces, unique small shops and even durable houses. This adaptability makes them a popular choice for innovative construction projects.

A one-trip container is a new container that has completed its first international voyage from the factory (usually in Asia). It is considered the closest option to a “brand new” container and is ideal for conversion projects because of its pristine condition. Most commonly available in green, we gave these containers a makeover by painting them in orange (RAL2011) as per the customer’s request and we think they look great!

Melamine Lining for a Shipping Container

Melamine lining gives a smart finish internally. It is often used in conversions which will be used for food preparation (coffee shops, catering units etc) because it can be wiped clean. In this case, it gave these units a premier look and feel.

Containers with Windows & Security Shutters

Furrer & Frey opted for the anti-vandal windows, which are available as single, double or triple glazed options.

These windows are standard issue for site offices/cabins that house items and equipment of high value because the shutters can close from the inside and the windows have latches that can be locked easily regardless of the position of the shutters.

Banner Kit

Shipping container banner kits are innovative systems for securely mounting large-format advertising banners to standard shipping containers, transforming otherwise unused surfaces into highly visible, mobile marketing spaces. Benefits include cost-effective advertising and they are customisable and easily installed or changed.

The customer wanted to stack these containers on top of one another, so we supplied and installed a personnel staircase. The staircase gives the customer the freedom to move up and down between the containers without them taking up too much space.

After stacking the containers, installing the staircase and hanging the banners, this turned out to be a job we were proud to deliver to our customer, and one that we hope they are proud to show off.
