20ft High Cube Cladded Shipping Container for Storage, Warwickshire

cladded 20HC shipping container with windows

Cladded shipping containers are a very popular way to gain extra storage, but have a less industrial look. This customer opted for a 20ft high cube cladded shipping container to help with their storage needs. A high cube container is 9’6 high, whereas a standard height container is 8’6. The extra foot of height is ideal for oversized items that would be harder to store in a standard container. They are also very popular for conversions into catering units, offices etc.

This customer’s site was only a few miles from our Redditch office, so two of our team went out to site to watch the container be delivered by one of our regular drivers.

20 HC Timber Clad Storage Container

The customer was having their storage container sited in their stable area. They chose to have the unit clad with timber so that the unit blended more with the horse stables it back onto. The unit is going to be used for extra storage for the customers horse equipment and hay.

They added two sets of steel security windows to the container too. These windows allow day light in while the customer uses the container, without needed to be connect to any power. The addition of windows also allows the customer to easily convert the container in the future to a welfare unit.

Made from a one trip (new quality) shipping container, this storage unit should offer a lifetime of quality use with minimal to no maintenance involved.

Hiab Delivery

As standard, we use hiab trucks to deliver units. A hiab is a truck which has a crane behind the cab to offload the shipping container. Generally the crane will offload to off the side of the truck bed.

With this container we were delivering to a private residence, with a large stable yard area. Deliveries to houses can prove difficult. There are often lots of obstacles, like overhead lines, trees and buildings. The areas are commonly quite tight and potentially not large enough for the trucks we use.

Ensuring a Smooth Delivery

Hiab trucks aren’t small vehicles, which does mean that there are some requirements to ensuring a smooth delivery of a shipping container. In order to deliver, a truck will need plenty of space to set up their stabilisers, which support the truck when the crane is in use. These stabilisers come out an additional 4ft from the sides of the truck bed.

They also need to remain on hardstanding ground. If they drive over, or have to set up on soft ground, they are likely to sink and get stuck. Ultimately, this can delay the truck from it’s next jobs. There is also the possibility of damage being caused to the truck or them needing to be towed out.

The site will also need to be clear of overhead obstacles, like power cables, phones lines and trees. If you are interested in having a container delivered, we would advise reading our delivery and siting guide to ensure you have adequate access. In simple terms, if access is anything other than very easy, we’d like you to let us know and send in some photos. This way we can help check that your delivery will go smoothly ahead of time.

Shipping Container Delivery to Ullenhall

In this case, the site was quite tight making it a tricky delivery. However our driver was prepared and managed to offload the container into the exact position the customer wanted. Our customer was conscious of the restrictions that may prevent a delivery and had sent over a video to show the access. This video was shown to the driver in advance of taking the order. This allowed the driver to see that the site was quite tight for his truck but this meant he knew what to expect.

While we would prefer to deliver to large open spaces, with no restrictions for the delivery we do know this is not always possible. There are ways to ensure a trouble free delivery, assessing access pictures and videos, or arranging for a site survey.
