Shipping container staircases for cargo doors are ideal for double stacked storage containers. With two heavy duty wheels, this staircase can easily be moved from stacked container to stacked container.
Our standard design for the shipping container cargo door access stairs is designed for two standard height shipping containers stacked on top of one another.
It consists of 13 steps, chequer plate floor and is finished all over in black although other colours are available on request. It also includes all the handrails, landing/loading area, all supporting framework, a steering/jockey wheel and two heavy-duty wheels. Ideal for double-stacked shipping containers on a self-storage site.
This design is our standard, we can of course add to, amend and alter to suit your requirements.
The staircase is designed to take a good amount of loading weight and have castor wheels for movement. As they are easy to move around a site, they can generally be used by everyone storing in the top row. Depending on the size and busy-ness of your yard, you may only need one of these staircases!
Standard Dimensions
Height to platform
2600mm (standard height)
2900mm (high cube)
Length of the framework (excluding jockey-wheel at the front and the first step at the rear) 5275mm
Total width 2500mm (maybe slightly wider with the addition of the fold-down flap)
Platform size 2500mm x 2500mm
Step width 1295mm
Platform weight capacity 1000kg
Suitable Ground
As with all things container-related it is essential the ground where the staircase will be used and positioned is suitable. The legs will need support from hard standing ground, ideally concrete.
The heavy-duty wheels we fit are typically pneumatic and will operate on hard-standing ground, concrete or even pea gravel very well.
Larger stones; it will work but not fantastically.
Other surfaces; again may work but not fantastically and you’ll likely need more than the recommended two people to operate and move safely.
Customisation and Extras
Staircase in Aluminium
As these shipping container staircases are made to order, there is customisation and extras available to give you the best solution to your storage needs.
We can repaint the in your choice of RAL. This is a great option if you are looking match your brand colours or other items on site. Two colour finishes can also be done if preferred.
If the standard design does not fit your space, we can also make a bespoke staircase to the dimensions you need. This can include non standard container sizes, or units on jacklegs. We can also further reinforce the staircase or use thicker steel.
We can also offer an aluminium version. This option is lighter but will be more expensive than our standard steel version.
A fold down flap can be included which bridge the gap between the staircase and the container.
Zinc Powder Coating
We can offer zinc powder coating on our mobile cargo staircases. It offers corrosion protection to your staircase.
A zinc-rich primer is applied directly to the metal, then a powder coated top coat. When exposed to moisture, the zinc will corrode before the steel beneath.
This method is durable can last up to 30 years. It extends the lifespan of the metal and makes it more resistant to chipping and scratching.
This is available in a range of RAL colours and finishes.
Installation
2 Colour Finish
Installation on site is included in your staircase price. For the build please keep the work area and container doors clear for our vehicle to gain access. Please do not have the container covered in, surrounded by or full of goods. We will need clear unobstructed access to outside and inside to erect staircases.
