10ft Shipping Container Bar – How it looks now!
We love hearing from our customers with updates on container projects that we have helped with so it was a real pleasure to receive an email from Hazel after we featured her Container Bar Conversion in one of our recent email newsletters.
We worked with Hazel back in October 2020 when she contacted us for assistance in creating her very own garden bar for her home in Wimbourne, Dorest.
The container chosen for this project was a 10ft ‘nearly new’ shipping container in very smart condition. The container was destined to be repainted in blue to fit Hazel’s fantastic designs (more on those in a moment!) In this instance, the chosen colour was RAL colour – 5010. Further modifications to help transform this 10ft shipping container into a bar included a lockable serving hatch on one side and a lockable serving shutter opening on another side, we achieved this by fitting one of our shutter units for our standard windows (but without the window fitted). The main hatch is on gas struts and opens vertically to offer a large bar space for serving, and the main hatch cover can double up to provide protection when needed from the great British weather.
We mentioned Hazel’s amazing designs earlier… as a talented designer, she was able to provide us with detailed CAD drawings explaining exactly how she wanted the bar to look.
Hazel is a Spacial Designer at TickBox Design – a spatial design service that combines form and function for residential and retail spaces. TickBox Design develops practical design solutions that work best for the user whilst enhancing aesthetic appeal. They strive to create feel-good spaces that perform effortlessly.
A project update
Back in June, we sent out our quarterly email newsletter and featured Hazel’s bar as inspiration for one of the many things you can do with a humble shipping container. Hazel read our update and contacted us to let us know that ‘Bar FOMO’ is still in use and bringing her and her family lots of joy! Hazel even sent us a few pictures of how it looks now – fantastic!
We can’t help feeling very envious of Hazel’s bar! She put so much work into it, and it is great to see how much she loves it!

“This project is so close to my heart. Apart from the professional plumbing and electrics installation, I built the entire bar myself during lockdown. It was hugely rewarding and I learnt so much about construction.
We spend so much time in our bar, playing retro games and listening to our self-curated CD jukebox, most recently we hosted a Eurovision party.”
