6ft Cladded Shipping Container for Laser Tag Charging Station
Shipping containers are very versatile and can be used for almost anything. A new use a customer came to us with in the summer was a laser tag charging station. Our customer is a large activity centre for school groups and families. They have come up with many ways to utilise shipping containers within their sites. They’ve also had a container for their laser clay shooting shelter! This time round, they wanted a small, cladded shipping container.
6ft Cladded Shipping Container in Weymouth
In this case, the customer only needed a small container to house all the laser tag equipment when being charged. 6′ containers aren’t a standard size, but by cutting down larger units we can offer pretty much any length under 40′.
In this case, we provided them with a refurbished container. We took a container sleeve (no end, no doors) that had been left from a previous cut down unit. (no waste here!!). We then blanked off the end with steel and added a personnel door. The site opted for a personnel door, as these would be easier for the people using the container to open and close.
The container was planned to sit in view of customers, so to make it look smarter they opted to clad the unit. A shipping container isn’t everyone’s idea of beauty so cladding is a very popular modification we offer.
Timber cladding a shipping container is a simple way to hide the ‘industrial’ look of the unit. It can also help to blend into surroundings.
Charging Station Conversion
The unit was to house a lot of laser tag equipment so they need simple but effective storage. We fitted timber batons at two heights along 2 of the container walls. On these batons, we fitted 52 hooks, to hold the laser tag equipment.
As they were wanting to charge up to 50 items at once, we discussed with our conversion yard the best way to do this. We had to ensure that the electrics would have enough power to support so much charging. It was decided that single phase electrics would be able to support the amount of charging needed.
Shipping Container Delivered to Weymouth
This cladded unit was delivered from our London conversion yard down to one of the customers sites in Weymouth. The container was delivered on a rigid hiab and offloaded onto a concrete base on the grass.
