Shipping container roller shutters are the perfect alternative access solution and conversions. Available in any height to suit the container and in widths up to 10 metres these are a fantastic option where standard cargo doors or the popular flat panel doors simply do not give enough access. They offer a  secure, wind and watertight, anti-vandal design made from galvanised steel.

Shipping container roller shutters have a long life with little maintenance required. Some typical usage examples for roller shutters are mobile food bars fitted with half length shutters (used to open up as a serving area), paintball kiosks, garages and workshops, market stalls and even night club ticket offices!

Roller shutters are also excellent options for storage containers where a factory made side opening container can be too expensive or if you do not have the space for the cargo doors to open up fully.

Manual Roller Shutters

Manual roller shutters are also a great option. These generally cannot be done in very long lengths like electric versions can. Roller shutters are very heavy and the larger the shutter the hard it is to open and close manually.

We commonly fit 8′ manual roller shutters in containers and can also offer half height roller shutters which are a great option to use for serving from.

Electric Roller Shutters

Electric roller shutters are one of our more popular options. These generally come with a key turn switch so need almost no effort to open. Electric roller shutters are generally max full height roller shutter length is circa 17ft, but please get in touch for custom sizes and we will see what we can do. These work on standard domestic electrics (single phase).

A popular size we offer is 17′, this is an ideal option for customers looking to open up almost the full side of a 20′ shipping container but a side opening shipping container is not viable.

When we are fitting electrics inside the container, we will connect up the shutter so it is ready to use. If you are not having electrics from us, we will leave the wires free ready for your electrician to hook up to electrics once on site. If you need us to fit an external connection (blue commando plug), please let us know and we can arrange this before the unit leaves the depot.

These shutters do have a manual opening system too, however it is important to note that this is only to be used in an emergency. (e.g. the electrics are not working). Regularly using the manually opening system can damage this.

Internal vs External Shutter Box

We can also give the option of whether your shutter box is fitted internally or externally.

Internally fit boxes are generally the more popular as it looks smarter. However, this way does lose you some internal space. If you plan to maximise your internal space for storage or other uses, you may want to have the shutter box mounted externally.

Shutter boxes are approx. 1ft tall and when fitted this will mean you lose approx. 1ft of accessible space. If you do have something very tall to load into your container and that extra foot will make a difference we can also offer roof mounted shutter boxes. This option does come at an additional cost.

If you choose to roof mount a shutter box on a HC container, this will make the container 10′ 6 tall and does mean delivery is more complicated. Only certain hauliers will be able to deliver units this tall and can increase costs against standard deliveries.

Powder Coated Roller Shutters

Our roller shutters are made from galvanised steel and as standard are left with the original silver finish.

We can also powder coat the shutter doors on request. This is generally done to have the container match the rest of the container. However, you can choose a contrasting colour to make the container really stand out!

Powder coated shutters are a great option for creating a seamless finish to you container. This will be an extra cost on the shutter.

Roller Shutter Kits

We can also supply the roller shutters for you to arrange your own fitting on site. These are sent as a kit and you should have everything you need in order to fit your container with a roller shutter.

These are not simple kits to fit, you will need to have someone experienced to fit this on site for you. We do not currently offer a mobile fitting service.

• Insulated shutters for loading bay containers or stores where minimising heat loss is important. We would recommend our lining and insulation conversions to fully insulated the container.
• Aluminium shutters provide strong, reliable, and delivering a lightweight protection solution.
• Acoustic ‘noise cancelling’ shutters if your container has heavy machinery or power tools being used inside, noise cancelling shutters may be require if they are next to quiet offices for example.
