40ft High Cube Tunnel Shipping Container With Roller Shutters

Sometimes, a basic shipping container doesn’t quite meet the needs of a customer. In this case, the customer was limited for space on site. They needed a high cube 40ft near new tunnel container, but were limited on the space at either end of the container. Therefore, both cargo doors were replaced with roller shutters.

Nearly New Shipping Container Conversion

This shipping container was being used for an event, and needed to be a high cube 40ft tunnel container. As the customer was limited on space, though, they couldn’t use the cargo doors a standard tunnel container comes with.

This meant we needed to find a compromise, in order to fit the customer’s needs. The customer agreed that it would be suitable to install roller shutters in place of the cargo doors on each end of the container.

This container was “near new” quality. This is a great option as they offer a smart looking container that can last for years whilst saving around £900 in comparison to a one-trip container. We do however offer other options depending on your budget, and whether you would prefer a one-trip, used or refurbished unit where condition varies accordingly.

Manual Roller Shutters in a Shipping Container

roller shutter containerThe roller shutters used were manual. These are usually a cheaper option to electric roller shutters. We commonly fit 8′ manual roller shutters. We do offer these at half height too, which is good for serving hatches on food service, bar or DJ stand container conversions. Full length shutters are commonly used for workshops and garages.

Electric Roller Shutters in a Shipping Container

These are the more popular option compared to manual roller shutters. These are generally better when someone wants a full side opening container. This is because (as you can imagine!) how heavy that would be to open manually.

As for this example, the customer opted for manual which is manageable because of the smaller size shutters, when comparing them to being on the side of the container. The customer was using the container with the shutter doors open for long periods of time. This meant the doors wouldn’t need to be constantly opened and closed. Whilst electric roller shutters are easier to open and close, they do have a manual option only for emergencies – as opening it this way can damage the electrics.

Other Shipping Container Conversion Options

There are many conversion options on offer. In this case, we converted the 40ft tunnel container in one of our London depots. However, we do offer conversion services all across the UK. Whilst conversions prove helpful when changing the function of a shipping container, they can be helpful when the aim is to change the way it looks, too.

When converting containers we can:

And that’s to name but a few! Please see some of our other conversion options available here.

40ft Tunnel Shipping Container

A 40ft tunnel container is has cargo doors at both ends, rather than just one. Factory made versions do exist, but are not always the easiest to get hold. Modifying an end opening unit can sometimes be the best way to get what you need.

Tunnel containers are great for customers who are storing a lot and want easy access to both ends. This saves them from having to unload and reload the unit to get to something stored at the back. They are also popular for self store sites as a partition can be added and then you have 2x 20ft storage spaces to rent out.

Like this unit, we can add roller shutter doors, but we can also add in an extra set of doors to an end opening unit.
